Devin The Dude - Waitin' To Inhale

Good album. One track featuring Snoop and Andre 3000 is one of the best tracks of the year.

Bonus Cuts:

Devin The Dude - Do What You Wanna Do

Damn my momma put me on this track. I didn't even know this was a sample off of an Isley Brothers track. Footsteps In The Dark is one of my all time favorite jams period. Get on this.

The Isley Brothers - Footsteps In The Dark

Ice Cube - It Was A Good Day

Ras Kass - Soul On Ice

My boy Ras Kass reppin' the West Coast. He along with other big time Left Coast artists can help bring it back into the spotlight again. Being a vet in the game I'm rooting for him to have big-time success. If you don't know about him, or never really heard him rap, this album is a great intro. Standout tracks include "Anything Goes", "Marinatin' (produced by Battlecat), and "Nature of the Threat" which is a crazy ass history lesson. I highly suggest you give this album a listen. And best believe I got more to come in the future.

Ras Kass - Soul On Ice

Bonus Cut:

Ras Kass - Won't Catch Me Runnin'

Oh Werd?!?!?

I remember in 8th grade hearing about Allen Iverson coming out with an album. But then it never came out. Apparently the lyrics were too explicit and slammed on gay people and some other ish. So to this day it's shelved never to see a release. But I got the whole thing here. I don't know whether that's something to be proud of though. I do admit tho, the first track is pretty hot. Something rare for you library.

Allen Iverson aka Jewels - 40 Bars

Your Welcome.

He's The DJ

I'm a HUGE fan of DJ Jazzy Jeff. Expect more of him in the near future. In the mean time enjoy this right here.

A great hip hop track from my favorite group, Black Moon, sampling from the late great Barry White's old school R&B jam. Enjoy.

Barry White - Playing Your Game Baby

A couple days ago I posted Phat Kat's Carte Blanche on Day 4 of my "In Case You Missed It" series. Apparently the link didn't work for a couple of people. It worked on my computer but oh well. So here's an alternate link.

Phat Kat - Carte Blanche

Hancock Trailer

I like how he's rocking the black toe Air Jordan I's. Schitt remember The Fresh Prince days when he was rocking the freshest pair of Jordans (as well as countless other Nike classics) in every episode? Dude's feet was most definitely fresh indeed. Movie looks ALRIGHT at best. I need to see another trailer. What do you think?

Danny Boy

A couple tracks from the R&B hook-singer off Death Row Records. Both are personal jams.

Danny Boy - Come When I Call

Produced by DJ Quik.

Danny Boy - Slip N Slide

If you listen carefully, Ginuwine provides vocals on the hook.

You don't have these.

Sean Price aka Ruck, one-half of the duo Heltah Skeltah, and a member of the super group Boot Camp Clik. Dude has been puttin' it down for years and came with it on this early '07 release. Dope album.

Sean Price - Jesus Price Supastar

OutKast's classic joint off the classic Stankonia samples from a classic act, Joe Simon. Enjoy.

Joe Simon - Before The Night Is Over

OutKast - So Fresh, So Clean

Came Across These

Produced by Madlib.

Throwback VIDEOS Of The Week

Aside from Nike creating classic spectacular sneakers, they've also had classic memorable commercials. These flood so much memories I need an ark.

Don't front like you ain't ever tried any of the moves from this commercial.

Back when Vince was a beast. His signature line is no more too.

One of my favorite commercials. Bootsy was even it. And I've always wanted those jerseys. The hunt is on.

And of course:

Testify Up In This Peace!

I'm not much of a rock fan, but I've always made an exception for this group (as well as Nirvana) and this album here is further reason as to why I fucks with them.

Rage Against The Machine - The Battle Of Los Angeles

Bonus Cut:

Rage Against The Machine - No Shelter

Off the Godzilla Soundtrack. My brother had this back in the day when he was a Puff Daddy fan for some odd fuckin' reason. But the soundtrack had some dope tracks. Schitt I just got another idea for a post!

My boy Phat Kat hails from Detroit. If you're up on your Dilla you've heard of this dude rapping over many of his beats. I like this dude and this album here has only cemented my respect for him. Production by only 4 producers including J Dilla & Black Milk keeps the sound of this album consistently great and Phat Kat's flow blends with it perfectly. Great album. Peep it.

Phat Kat - Carte Blanche

Bonus Cut:

Phat Kat - Destiny

One of my favorite joints right here.

Something For The Holiday

Wham! - Last Christmas

Merry Christmas.

Jay-Z - American Gangster

I Know is the best track hands down.

(If you haven't already)

One of my all-time favorite artists (including the one featured) on one of my all-time favorite joints on one of my all-time favorite albums sampling from one of my all-time favorite old school r&b groups. Also included is a cover by new jack swing's very own Guy.

Gap Band - Yearning For Your Love

Nas - Life's A Bitch ft. AZ

Yo Homie....

This track, just like these kicks above here, is fucking FRESH!

I got another compilation in the making, will definitely be putting this one on. Look out for that!

I didn't even know that these two tracks were sampling from Club Nouveau. Props to my homie Lip for this one.

Club Nouveau - Why You Treat Me So Bad

Ashanti - Only You

Tha Luniz - I Got 5 On It

Till Tomorrow!

Best R&B album of the year! Recognize.

Lloyd - Street Love

MJ would smash in a 1-on-1 game. But then again MJ would smash in a dance off. Michael Jackson and LL Cool J have a lot in common when it comes to long-standing music careers. LL's classic joint Hey Lover samples from Jackson's Lady In My Life off his album Thriller. Listen and enjoy.

Till tomorrow!

Since 2007 is almost over I'll be hooking you guys up with many of the top albums of the year. To start off here's Little Brother's GetBack. This is their first album since 9th Wonder, one of my favorite producers, left the group. But despite this the production is still great and Phonte and Rapper Big Pooh come through as always with the flow. I'm a big Little Brother fan (oxymoron), and you should be too. And if you're not interested, Lil' Wayne makes an appearance. However, I hope that won't be the reason you decide to listen to this. If so...~shaking my head at you~

Little Brother - GetBack

Suga Free - Street Gospel

Straight outta Pomona is one of my favorite rappers Suga Free and his debut album, Street Gospel. What I like about this dude is that he doesn't fake the funk. He's a real pimp and hustler, unlike a lot of those in the game today who pose lyrical but really ain't true. With DJ Quik covering the production to go along with Suga Free's unorthodox rhyming about what he does best, this album is a West Coast classic.

Suga Free - Street Gospel

Crooked I

I'm rooting for this guy. People definitely respecognize his skill. Even though it didn't work out while he was on Tha Row, he still can make it big and help bring the West Coast back into the center of the rap world. You'll feel me after you check this schitt out.

Crooked I - Wake Up Show (Grindin') Freestyle

Crooked I - Power 106 Freestyle

Bonus Cut:

Crooked I - Say Dr. Dre (Produced By Dr. Dre)

This track was and still might be on Detox. Dude raps as if he was Dr. Dre. You don't have this. Your Welcome.

Get Your Walk On

My boy Quik explains how the "B Walk" came about.

Wednesday, December 19, 2007

Our series takes us to two great artists in their respective genre singing and rhyming about one topic. Enjoy them.

Rick James - Mary Jane

Redman - Smoke Buddah

Till Tomorrow.

You Need To Git Up, Get Out And Bump Something

Classic schitt right here. The debut album that introduced the world to the Atlanta duo, OutKast. The music is funky and captures that Dirty South essence. Big Boi and Dre (not known as Andre 3000 at this time) are raw and flows with the wickedness. Goodie Mob features throughout the album as the only guests.

OutKast - Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik

Who Wants Some Brown Sugar?

I haven't posted any are 'n bee so to start I'm posting my favorite R&B artist, D'Angelo. His debut album Brown Sugar has soulful melodic beats that's perfect for "the mood". Tracks like Brown Sugar and Lady are perfect examples.

D'Angelo - Brown Sugar

Throwback Video Of The Week: For Laker Fans

Damn. This video is throwback on many levels:

#1: Eddie Jones on the Lakers

#2: The Lakers when they had Van Exel & Jones & Shaq

#3: Chick Hearn....RIP

#4: Shawn Bradley getting dunked on CRUCIALLY, twice, in 1 game. But then how's that throwback? Even my grandma dunked on his 7'6'' ass.

Been Holding Out On This....

The rarest collection of west coast classics that you've never heard of before from the infamous Death Row Records. Just classic g-funk gangsta tracks after tracks that'll have you bobbing your head and wanting to bump this loud and clear for all the people to hear. I found this when I was in my Death Row phase. I love it. And you should too.

Death Row Records - The Death Row Singles Collection 2CD

CD 1

CD 2

Your Welcome

One of my favorite Biggie tracks sampling Bobby Caldwell. A man who has had artists ranging from 2Pac to Common sampling from him as well. Both are great tracks. Enjoy.

Bobby Caldwell - My Flame

Biggie Smalls - Sky's The Limit

Till Tomorrow.

Remember This Track?

I guess the category this group out of London would fall into what would be called "Acid Jazz". Think of a mixture between r&b, funk, and electronica. Nonetheless I've been on this group since way back in the day when they came out with their breakout hit and a classic video to go with it. Surprisingly you have been up on them too. Napoleon Dynamite anyone? Take a chance and listen to them. You may be surprised.

(If any song asks for a passwerd. It's "time4me")

Hope you enjoy.

Not so much a sample, more of a remix. But nonetheless I'm feelin' this schitt here.

The Dark Knight Trailer

Looks crucial.

Rob Viktum- AmericanDONUTShop

This guy flipped the beats off Dilla's Donuts and applied it to Jigga's American Gangster. The end result? One hell of a fuckin' album!

Your Welcome.

The Boondocks - Home Alone (FULL EPSIODE)

Another bomb episode from a bomb show. Everyone needs to be up on this. You can also view here. And if you want their official mixtapes, check here.

AZ - Doe Or Die

AZ is one of my favorite rappers. I first heard him on Life's A Bitch off of Nas's Illmatic and I was blown away at his lyrical ability. So I did research on this dude and I found his debut album. So I peeped it and the rest is history. AZ is so ridiculous with his wicked word play that it had me rewinding them back for another listen and the beats are fresh and smooth, a perfect match to his flow. For a minute I couldn't get enough of this album and AZ was my #1 favorite rap artist. This album as mentioned in the Cuban Linx post was part of the mafioso rap trend during the mid 90's. This album is considered to be one of the best in the trend and is considered an underground lowkey classic. Unfortunately AZ followed with a pair of sub par albums before coming back strong with his last 3 (4 come February '08). But regardless he remains one of the most underrated, but respected artists in the game today.

AZ - Doe Or Die

Two West Coast classics by N.W.A and 2Pac both taking samples by this man, Bootsy Collins. Listen and appreciate. Nuff 'said.

Bootsy Collins - I'd Rather Be With You

N.W.A - I'd Rather Fuck You

2Pac - I'd Rather Be Ya Nigga

For Your Library

This right here is the original vinyl-rip of J Dilla's Ruff Draft. You need this in your life.

J Dilla - Ruff Draft EP

Your Welcome

Black Moon - Enta Da Stage

After hearing that this album is considered a classic by many hip hop heads, I was curious. So I asked my CuzN to hook it up. After listening to the entire album, I've been a big fan ever since. This album is pure East Coast, New York hip hop at its finest. The production is done by DJ Evil Dee of Tha Beatminerz who's beats are grittier and grimier than RZA's. Buckshot serves stellar verses on every track while the 5ft Accelerator makes few appearances but still produces. Other members of the Boot Camp Clik make appearances throughout as well. Give this album a listen and appreciate. One of my favorite groups in all of hip hop.

Keep Your Head Up

My boy got released from the Heat. Damn shame. Keep your head up son. There are those who still appreciate what you did. You still the MAN.

Look at this dude going at MJ. Dude was no joke. Recognize.

Taking it to the West Coast, the best coast, the coast with the most for our sample series. Dre & Snoop, Snoop & Dre, go together like Kobe & Shaq, without the beef (or Penny for that matter). We all know the classic west coast track Nuthin' But A G' Thang as well as The Wash. Both took samples from Leon Haywood's I Want'a Do Something Freaky To You. Listen. Recognize. Download. Enjoy.

Leon Haywood - I Want'a Do Something Freaky To You

Dr. Dre & Snoop Doggy Dogg - Nuthin' But A G' Thang

Dr. Dre & Snoop Doggy Dogg - The Wash

Bonus Cut:

Dr. Dre & Snoop Doggy Dogg - Nuthin' But A G' Thang (Club Mix)

You ain't got this track here. You know I got the heat!

Till next time.

Deuces N' Trays

How supremely tight would it have been to see this live? The 2 white people in the video try dancing to this and are just off beat and funny as hell. RIP Roger Troutman. West Coast Hip Hop owes a lot to you.

I just found this one. This is a little better.

I'm On The Edge....Watch Yo Step

I was introduced to dude through my Cuz'N. After hearing this track I became an instant fan. He came out with Perseverance earlier in the year. This here is the album entirely remixed by none other than Madlib.

Perseverance (Madlib Remixes)

Who's This Cool Superstar Dumbing It Down?

Your Welcome

Tuesday, December 11, 2007

We're keeping it Wu today posting Ghostface's "Cherchez LaGhost" off his album Supreme Clientele. This track samples from Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band's "Cherchez la femme". Both tracks I like. Hope you'll feel the same.

Who's The Man?

Prince is the man. Straight up. I don't give a damn what others say. I prefer him over Michael. Here's a few reasons why.
