West Coast Wednesday

I don't listen to the radio at all for the obvious reason, especially this station. But on Wednesdays it's different. "West Coast Wednesdays" on Power 106 is great, playing all the great classics from the left coast. It's good to actually hear something of substance getting airplay. It's crazy to see how much the music has changed too when you compare the classics of just a decade ago to what's "hot" now. Anyway, here's a WerdUp version of "West Coast Wednesdays".

The Pharcyde - LabCabinCalifornia

Part 2

Great album to smoke and get high to with great production that includes none other than J Dilla.

Bonus Cut:

The Pharcyde - Runnin' Instrumental (Prod. By Dilla)

Low Profile - We're In This Together

As my Cuz'N puts it:

Low Profile (IMHO) set the tone and standard for what Dre ended up doing (making millions off of for that matter) Low Profile came with SP-1200 beats laced with ‘more 808 than Hawaii State’ (WHATTUP DERT!!)

WC & DJ ALADDIN (who later became Ice T’s DJ) brought that dylon then… and its still dylon today!"

Ras Kass - Goldyn Chyld

This album never saw the light of day due to whatever label disputes Ras and his label had. But this album has some bangers on it. A must have for any Ras Kass fan or a West Coast hip hop fan. Which reminds me, check this schitt here.

And it's good to see Warren G still working hard in the studio. New song out titled "Mr. President". The video has been around for a couple of days, but like I always say, better late than never.

Finally a legend past away 13 years ago today. Rest in peace Eazy E.

The Last Days of Eazy E

I Ain't Done...

Told you more Blu was on the way.

The Undeniable

You know me being the big Sosa fan that I am I had to hook you guys up early with this one.

You're Welcome.

I thought it was a strong album from the man, with the exception of a couple tracks. Other than that I loved it. But listening to this makes think back..... this.

Bring That Track Back! (Throwback)

Don't have a video for this one. But this track truly takes me back. Back to the fifth grade to be exact. I had this album and played the hell out of it. Of course the popular single by Will Smith was hot, but there was this one joint that me and a couple of friends back in the day would just groove to.

Jermaine Dupri & Snoop Doggy Dogg - We Just Wanna Party With You

By the way that album had some other little gems in there from artists like Alicia Keys years before she got big, The Roots, D'Angelo, Ginuwine, and Nas. Try and cop that album if you can find it. Schitt I plan on digging for my CD. But in the mean time enjoy the track.

One of the more cool calm classic Jigga tracks sampling from jazz pianist Ahmad Jamal. Peep, download, and enjoy.

Ahmad Jamal - Pastures

Jay-Z - Feelin' It

Till next time.

Spring Break

I'm done with winter quarter and I'm basking in the rest and relaxation of my spring break. While people are partying it up in Mexico, I'd rather just be where the picture above is at doing absolutely nothing but enjoying the scenery.

Here's some tracks I forgot to hook you up with:

AZ & Consequence - Heavy Inda Game

Big Boi - Royal Flush ft. Andre 3000 & Raekwon

Skew It on the Bar-B pt. 2!

More posts to come this week.

Another Banned Boondocks Episode

Damn two banned episodes in one season? This one is a definite must-see.

Who Wants To Take The Big Dreams Challenge?

Last week The Game came out with the Cool & Dre produced Big Dreams off his third and final album L.A.X. The track is hot. But a remix came out a few days later produced by Komplex. The remix sounds like the good doctor himself produced it and sounds more West Coast. Check the difference.

The Game - Big Dreams

The Game - Big Dreams (Komplex Remix)

It's a hard choice, but I'm feeling the Komplex remix a little but more.

Which do you like best?

Bishop Lamont Gives Details on DETOX

Damn I remember hearing about Detox my freshman year of high school. I'm currently a second year at Cal Poly Pomona. I read that a lot of the beats that were supposed to be for Dre's album ended up being used for his Aftermath artists which has me thinking, which beats were they?

D'Angelo - Voodoo

I am very aware of the lack of R&B. Not going to lie I'm more of a hip-hop head. But when I do feel like getting my R&B on this dude makes the type of music to kick back and vibe to.

D'Angelo - Voodoo

Right now, being high on greenery, I want to enjoy this scenery to these joints.

Sheek Louch - Good Love

2Pac - Temptations (Battlecat RMX)

Sounds a little like there's some...

Kool & The Gang - Summer Madness

BTW: That tupac/battlecat joint is a taste of something crucial to come.

Oh....and I got my new comp for you to download and vibe to. Be on the lookout.

Dru Hill Reunites.....Then Breaks Up.....In 10 Minutes!

Prince - Purple Rain

If you don't know, I'm a big Prince fan. Love the movie (ESPECIALLY Apollonia) and I love this album. Added is some extended, alternate, unreleased versions of some of the songs on the album. It's definitely worth a listen.
